The United States cover a huge area with very different climates and cities. Before you travel, it’s helpful to know which power plugs, sockets, voltage and frequency are used there.
There, the main plug types A and B are used and the standard supply is 120 V at 60 Hz. You will need a travel adapter because the local plug types differ from those used in your home country. Most modern devices support 100–240 V.
Tip Most outlets in the United States are type A and B. Many budget accommodations still have ungrounded type A outlets, so check carefully if you need grounding for laptops or other sensitive devices.
