Germany is a popular destination in Europe, known for historic cities, forests and efficient transport. Before you travel, it’s useful to know which power plugs, sockets, voltage and frequency are used there.
There, the main plug types C and F are used and the standard supply is 230 V at 50 Hz. You will need a travel adapter because the local plug types differ from those used in your home country. Most modern devices support 100–240 V.
Tip In Germany you will mainly find grounded type F sockets, sometimes combined with type C plugs. Older buildings may still have sockets without child protection, so take care when travelling with kids.
